Cambridge University Wedding At 2 Stunning Venues.

I recently had the honour of shooting an Anglo/ American Cambridge University wedding at not only the stunningly beautiful chapel and grounds of St John’s College, Cambridge but also a wonderfully elegant wedding reception at Madingley Hall on the outskirts of Cambridge. As a Cambridge Wedding photographer any opportunity to shoot at some of the city’s most historic and iconic venues is always a joy and these 2 locations are up there with the historic city’s finest.

Cambridge University Wedding at St John’s College

Being a wedding photographer at St John’s College in Cambridge is truly an inspiring experience. Nestled along the River Cam, this historic college offers a stunning backdrop for couple portraits on their special day. The college grounds, rich with architectural beauty, blend Gothic and Tudor styles, providing an atmosphere that feels timeless and grand.

I captured the ceremony in the awe inspiring chapel and whilst there are some restrictions on photography during a wedding ceremony in the chapel, (the photographer has to remain behind the wedding guests at all times), there is still plenty of opportunity to capture the scale and grandeur of the historic setting with wide angle shots from the back as well as a position to shoot from a vintage point next to the organist.

After the ceremony we were free to explore the grounds of the majestic Cambridge setting, it really is an iconic place for wedding photos and as a Cambridge wedding photographer it is a flagship venue.

One of the most iconic landmarks here is the Bridge of Sighs. This covered, neo-Gothic bridge gracefully spans the river Cam, adding a romantic touch to wedding photos as it reflects off the water and frames couples perfectly. The bridge’s unique design and the surrounding architecture create dramatic, enchanting shots, especially when complemented by soft, natural lighting.

After a stroll with some natural walking shots we dipped inside the grand gateway to the cloisters, enjoyingthe directional light shrouding the walkway through the arches a perfect stop off point for any wedding portrait photos.

Cambridge University Wedding Reception at Madingley Hall

A wedding reception at Madingley Hall in Cambridge offers an enchanting mix of history, beauty, and elegance.
