Kicking off the spring season of weddings for 2017 I was lucky enough to have an Ely wedding. The small and quaint City of Ely is also my place of residence so there was an extra significance to shooting a wedding on my doorstep!.
Jacqui & David have been together for several years and have a beautiful 5 year old daughter named Rosa. Living in the centre of Ely the couple had decided they loved the idea of both being able to walk to their chosen venue.
The Maltings in Ely is a very popular venue for many kinds of events and even doubles up as a makeshift cinema and theatre!
I joined David and his best man at Peacocks tearooms where they had hired a room to get ready, just a stone’s throw from the venue it was the ideal location an is a hugely popular destination for visitors to the area so there was no shortage of attention.
Jacqui got ready at home which was also only a 5 minute walk from the venue. This allowed me the the rare opportunity to capture shots of both the bride and groom in preparation.
To add to the colour of the day the anual Ely Eel festival was also taking place in the area – it could have been chaos but the couples planning made sure everything ran smoothly.
After an emotional ceremony and drinks reception guest enjoyed a buffet meal after which I took the opportunity to capture some portraits of the newlyweds just outside the venue by the river Great Ouse.
To round of the day the evening guest were treated to the sounds of the brilliant Ska band 2 rude.
